Animal Spirit is a little light novel project I started around 2022. Currently it is only in spanish, but I’m trying to translate it to english assisted with an Illinoisan friend of mine.

This is the very first story I write, and therefore, very experimental for me.

You can read it here (only in Spanish).

    What’s it about?

The world is divided into two major homo sapiens species: Sapiens, the humans; and Bestialis, the beasts. They’re, essentially, the same species, but beastmen are able to transform into anthropomorphic animals.

Beastmen have been marginalized and submitted to humans, historically they’ve been seen as harmful and even savage creatures that needed to be tamed to serve. In the modern era they’ve gained their rights as they were recognized as human beings as well, though at these days everyone still call them beasts to differentiate from humans.

This brings us to Tokyo (still debating myself if use that city or use a fictitious one), where, due to the constant tensions and agressions from humans to beasts, the goverment built a great wall splitting the city in half from the administrative buildings. Defining two zones, the human (northwest) and the beast (southeast) one.

Daisuke is a young human who, all of a sudden, got transformed into a beast, having to escape to the southeast afterwards with uncertainty of his situation. Now having to adapt to his new anthropomorphic rabbit form and a new environment.

Yeah, this thing is just like Brand New Animal, but with a different kind of story. More dedicated to explore the life on a city divided for two species that essentially are the same and the tensions between in a barely stable society.
